Instruments made between and carry MN prefix serial numbers, with the M designating Mexico and the N designating the s. The numbers for each year typically overlap, as there is always a transitional period between successive years and as necks that are made and serial numbered late in any given year are used on instruments assembled in the early months of the following year. Only the seven-digit suffixes were actually entered into the database.

These serial numbers did not identify the country of origin in the body of the number. This new numbering scheme was short-lived and was replaced only a few months later by an improved scheme that identifies an instrument’s country of origin and year of manufacture in the body of the serial number. This new scheme uses the letters MX as a prefix to designate an instrument made in Mexico, followed by an eight-digit number. The first two digits of the number identify the year of manufacture, 10 for , 11 for , etc.

The following six digits are the unit identifier, although it should be noted that these final six numbers are not sequential and do not provide any other identification information about the instrument. This new scheme is now used on the majority of Fender instruments made in Mexico, with certain exceptions.

Nothing particularly special about London per se — the shops down there just discounted much more heavily than the ones where I lived. The damage wreaked upon Fender sales by vintage Tele and Strat replicas from the likes of Tokai and Fernandes was profound, and the only way Fender could address it was by playing the copyists at their own game. Fender would set up production in Japan, and essentially copy themselves.

It was recognised pretty much immediately even internally at Fender that the initial Japanese Fenders were far better value than their USA-made counterparts. The s version in black with white plastic parts. In the UK at least, the first Fender Japan reissues from , and were only available under the Squier brand. This was to avoid completely destroying sales of the American Fenders, which were still coming out of the Fullerton factory at the time. The only sales Fender wanted to destroy with their Japanese guitars, were those of Tokai, Fernandes, and other copyists.

With the Fender-branded range, there was an immediate and significant increase in price over the Squiers.

In terms of playability and stability there is no finer neck on the market. Double-expanding truss rod Unrivaled stability in all climates Modern feel and classic tone Widest range of custom options available anywhere The Double Expanding Truss Rod Adjustments The adjustment nut on Modern necks is found at the heel. Stability The Modern neck uses a double-expanding truss rod, installed in a flat slot directly under the fretboard.

This rod floats freely within the neck, with only the backward force that counteracts the pull of the guitar strings being transferred to the wood. All the rod’s inward compression is absorbed by rod itself. This makes the neck extremely stable through all climates and seasons perfect for touring guitarists. It also means Modern necks are much less susceptible to warping over time than single rod necks. Notes You can choose Modern construction on all Warmoth straight-headstock neck styles.

Many custom options, inluding binding, scallops, or inlay, are only available on Modern construction necks. The force exerted by the headstock end of the double rod is considerable.

Construction[ edit ] Leo Fender’s simple and modular design was geared to mass production and made servicing broken guitars easier. Guitars were not constructed individually, as in traditional luthiery. Rather, components were produced quickly and inexpensively in quantity and assembled into a guitar on an assembly line. The bodies were bandsawn and routed from slabs, rather than hand-carved individually, as with other guitars made at the time, such as Gibsons. Fender did not use the traditional glued-in neck , but rather a “bolt-on” neck which is actually affixed using screws, not bolts.

I don’t remeber exactly but I think all the Mexican model start with the M The old debate between Mexican and American Strat I have been saying this a lot of time but IMO all guitar are unique. I know when I bought my American Strat I went to the local guitar shope and I ahve tried around 30 strats I felt in love with only one wich is the one I bought. I have been playing on a lot of them and even some cheap pink mexican with a Hello Kitty Kat on them sounded better then some American Deluxe.

Even tho they are Fender guitar each guitar is unique and he best way to find your own is to try the most you can For me buying a guitar is all about the feeling and when you play on the one you like you know that the feeling is good Godd luck in your quest of buying a Strat man they are awesome guitar Yeah, I’m playing my euro guitar more than any other and it sounds much better than any of them, to be honest.

I’ll be testing some guitars out, but I’ll most likely be buying used so depending on where I may or may not be able to try out that specific guitar.
